try enabling deinterlacing in vlc if that is what you use to display it (under video options) in MPC-HC it should work out of the box without scanlines
Deinterlacing didn't result in any kind of change in VLC, but switching to 4:3 aspect ratio did. Thanks.
video is unusable, picture is too narrow
use vlc or mpc-hd

strange, it looks normal to me in vlc, but i have a old version of vlc because anything above 2.2.8 has been broken when it comes to randomizing playlists and such.
anyway, if you want to fix the file you can use mkvtoolnix and set the video to apsect ratio 4:3 then output it to a mkv file and new vlc will understand what to do with the file.
we will probably make a ai remaster of this eventually those files are always proper apsect ratio and much better quality due to removal of scanlines and other troubles untouched dvd's usually have.
